Everything is vanity.
People today are so caught up in appearances. And when you come to think about it beauty and youthfulness lasts nothing. A tiny speck in the line of time.
What are we cultivating? What will really last? Is it looks? Money? Power? What?

Felicitaciones
THIS IS TOP OF THE LINE AWESOMENESS!!! super fucking sick!
great painting with a great message. when we do think about the whole thing (beauty and youth) in a logical way, it is clear that our obsession is nonsense. but the clue is, I think, that people don't tend to act logical or rational. often our ambition is driven by society and its ideal. as long as there won't be a sudden change to it, people will always see beauty as a possibility to be happier or more successful. (by the way, it seems as if beauty can really be helpful, at least if we look at the evolutionary theory. most of the time it's the animal with the most impressive coat which gets the women, isn't it? We do connect beauty with strongness and youth, which is a condition to survive in nature.)
Oh well, it was really hard to get this text down in english :) I hope it's understandable. again, great painting, I like the composition and the soft look you create with digital media. what is your secret?
Freaking sweet, Ericka! And carries a great message too,i love this stuff. I agree with your questioning and guess i feel the same way sometimes, but it's a complex subject.I agree with what rinaj said there as well.but anyways, this is not a discussion forum i guess. Just a place for great artsies and ideas! Can't wait for more.
Beautiful piece! Reminds me of Klimt in the composition.
Carito: Estoy deacuerdo contigo pero por favor cuidate, no te exaltes, no queremos que te de un ataque cardíaco. Jaja, Muchas gracias por el comentario.
Damion: I'm glad you like it that much!
Rinaj:Yes, I know what you mean and I have thought about that too, it's kinda natural, in a way...but I'm talking about excess here. People who live their lives in front of a mirror or people who choose their acquaintances based on looks, or power or what they represent. Though having a certain level of vanity is healthy sometimes, haha. Thank you so much for your comment and your english was perfect, no worries :P
Jean: Hahaha, why can't it be a discussion forum?! You know what, I'm gonna stop doing art and I'll make this blog an intellectual discussion one.
...
I'm kidding :P
Thanks for commenting. Can't wait for YOU to come up with something new! Saludos!
Eric: It is most certainly a Klimt influenced piece. He is one of my favorite artists and I have studied his work so much I think it all translates unconsciously trough my hand, haha.
Thank you for always checking my work out, means a lot.
Wonderful Ericka. This in my opinion is the best type of art. The kind that makes you think as well as appreciate its aesthetics.
I will come back often for more inspiration.
